Day 1: ARRIVAL BARI
Upon your arrival in Bari reach the hotel on your own and check in (transfer available as an optional extra). In the afternoon, join a small group tour to have a quick introduction to the city (the tour starts at 15.00 hrs). The tour begins by visiting the main attractions of the old town such as the Basilica of Saint Nicholas with its precious Crypt, the ancient Cathedral of Saint Sabinus and the millenary Swabian Castle. The tour goes on walking along the authentic narrow streets, where old ladies still make pasta by hand, kids play outdoors and people cook on every corner. The tour ends unraveling some anecdotes about the modern French part of the city with opera theaters, luxury shopping streets, the famous fish market on the seaside and the lively squares where a taste of local products is not to be missed. Day 2: BARI
After breakfast you will enjoy a private cooking class at the Cesarina’s home. Learn the secrets of the Bari and Apulian recipes and have fun by learning how to reproduce the Italian specialities at home. Connect with local people, meet the Cesarina at her home and learn all her secrets to prepare local specialities such as anchovies au gratin, fava bean soup with chicory, Orecchiette pasta, Ciceri and Tria, Fallipoli style fish soup just to name a few. Finally, taste the fruit of your labour and experience the authentic flavours of Bari cuisine paired with a selection of red and white wines.

Day 3: BARI
After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll enjoy an archaeological small group tour of Bari. Discover the most important museum excavations in the city of Bari. This tour itinerary unites the ‘new city’ and the ‘old city’ which conceals numerous hidden treasures. During the visit you will discover the church of Santa Teresa dei Maschi as well as the Palazzo Simi - Centro Operativo per l’Archeologia. Inside the Palazzo Simi you will take part in a guided tour to see excavations of a small Byzantine church as well as rooms displaying other archaeological finds. Afterwards, you will be taken to the so-called ‘Isolato 49’, which opens out onto San Sabino Road. It is a complex of medieval houses that preserves - almost in its entirety - the ancient construction of the buildings. After a complete tour of the Succorpo of the Cathedral of San Sabino (underground part) and a walk along the walls of the old town, your experience will come to an end visiting the ruins of the church of Santa Maria del Buon Consiglio. Enter the ancient village, and discover the narrow alleys of this little square; one of the most picturesque places of the old city.

Day 4: DEPARTURE BARI
Enjoy your last breakfast in Bari and if time permits take the last walk to say “arrivederci” to the city or do some shopping. Transfer to the airport or train station is available as an optional extra.
Comfortable and light clothing is the most suitable for travelling in Italy. Visitors should not wear sleeveless shirts, shorts, short skirts, or skimpy clothing when visiting temples, religious or official buildings.
